Finding paid work experience is a great way of increasing your employment skills and helping with general living costs. Careers & Employment (CE) host a number of events on campus such as Careers Fairs and networking sessions, enabling students to meet employers and form contacts.
Careers and Employment advertises a wide range of excellent full-time opportunities in a variety of different sectors. Many of these opportunities are with employers who specifically choose University of Hertfordshire students and work exclusively with us.
Full-time work available to students
Part-time employment can be a financial necessity for many students and can not only improve your bank balance but it can also help you to develop a wide range of valuable skills and experiences in preparation for a career post-graduation. Handshake advertises many part-time job roles in a wide variety of different sectors and locations.

Careers & Employment also have a wide range of resources ranging from on-campus workshops and careers appointments through to useful online guides to help students navigate the recruitment process of both part-time and full-time job roles.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we continue to support students with our online resources and all our video and telephone appointments are still available Monday to Friday.
Our advisers will be available for in-person, video, and telephone appointments throughout your time at the University to support you with your career planning, gaining work experience, and finding part-time or full-time employment. After your course ends, we'll continue to support you for four years. Book an appointment slot on Handshake. Appointments are available Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00 (until 16:00 on Fridays) with additional late appointments available until 19:00 on Thursdays.

The Careers and Employment website contains a wealth of information to support you whatever stage of your career journey you are at. You’ll find support to help you find work and gain valuable experience to land a placement and other graduate opportunities. Discover and develop new career and business skills with expert advice, videos, interactive e-learning courses, tips, and articles.
These resources are constantly updated responding to the latest market information available, for instance, a suite of resources specifically around different types of interviews, including remote interviewing. We also have bespoke resources to support those who are running or looking to run their own business, for students thinking about placements and other forms of work experience and for international students.
Many of our recent LIVE workshops are recorded and uploaded within our resources for students and graduates to watch at a time that suits them.
