Karen Ann Newman
Karen is a Visiting Lecturer and the Senior Technical Officer for the 3D Contemporary Applied Arts and Contemporary Design Crafts department at the University of Hertfordshire. She works across three main traditional disciplines ceramic, glass and jewellery.
Karen completed her Masters Degree in Applied Art in 2014 resulting in 3D printed wearable objects in ceramic and bronze.
She is interested in the process of Digital Fabrication and the interplay between traditional hand-crafted techniques and Digital Technology. In her latest project ‘An Exploration into Digital Hand Crafts’, Karen explores Digital Fabrication with the use of 3D Scanning, CAD and Additive Manufactured mould.
