This unique and innovative course has been developed by the Hertfordshire Business School and School of Computer Science, along with The Tech Partnership and more than 90 of the UK’s largest organisations. It was created to meet industry needs and ensure that tomorrow’s IT managers have important technology, business, project management, personal and interpersonal skills. You’ll benefit from direct industry expertise, with leading IT professionals giving guest lectures and supporting projects that tackle real business problems. You’ll also have the opportunity to network with partner organisations, which could lead to work placements or even a graduate career.
You can also study a language with this course. You can be awarded the degree ‘with language’ in the title if you choose to study a foreign language in all years of study.

What will I study?
You will be studying four 15 credit modules in each semester (this may vary between double modules) and your contact time varies between modules, but usually you will have two sessions per week for each module, a one-hour lecture following by a one-hour seminar/tutorial. Typically, a new topic or theory will be introduced in each lecture and will be followed up with class discussion and feedback in the subsequent seminar. In addition, as part of your study time, you will be collaborating with your peers on tasks and group assignments. Module leaders also offer weekly drop in and feedback sessions, usually 2 x 1 hours per module as well as revision sessions.
The University’s ‘online learning environment’ means you can access all your course resources, literature and timetables from anywhere in the world.
Usually, assessment is split between coursework and examinations. The style of coursework can vary from presentations to business reports, essays depending on the taught topics.
Our BSc Information Technology Management for Business (ITMB) is endorsed by the Tech Partnership UK, which promotes ITMB to UK schools, students and employers.
The partnership gets employers involved in curriculum design and quality, encourages them to give guest lectures, runs workshops, creates work placements and helps get graduates into rewarding jobs. Hertfordshire’s BSc ITMB is aimed at students who want to a career in the management of IT systems, including software, hardware and web-based systems. This spans everything from identifying the need for an IT system through to the design, development, integration and operation of an effective solution.
It’s a degree that will launch your career as an IT specialist, whether you work in the technology sector, or any other organisation needing in-house IT expertise.
Our ITMB graduates go into a huge range of roles, including project manager, product manager, business analyst, product owner, IT functional analyst, QA/test analyst and IT support expert. Alternatively, you could study at postgraduate level or set up your own company.

Our graduates are prepared for management or senior professional careers in designing, developing and implementing technology solutions for businesses. Typical fields for our graduates include IT management, strategy and planning, system design and IT consultancy. Almost 100% of our graduates have gone on to work or further study within six months of finishing this course.
