Celebrating 40 years of Law

2020 marks the 40th Anniversary of Hertfordshire Law School at the University of Hertfordshire. In that time, we have supported thousands of students across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, Degree Apprenticeships, and research degrees.

We are proud to have established a fantastic learning environment for our students with facilities including a dedicated Law Court Building and a mock law court for students to practice and hone their skills.

Our approach to teaching, and the experience we offer students has evolved significantly since 1980 and we are proud of our reputation for being forward thinking, innovative, and responsive to the world around us.

Since I joined the University in 1994, Hertfordshire Law School has grown and evolved immeasurably. From the early days of small cohorts of students, to today, with state of the art facilities including our own mock law court building, numerous course options, our very own pro bono law clinic, hundreds law students are set to graduate with excellent law degrees this year, and compelling employability rates. We are a force to be reckoned with.

Our teaching staff, including myself, bring real experience of professional practice to the table. This means we all understand what employers are looking for in the contemporary legal professional. At the same time, my personal journey – I’ve gone from lecturer to Dean in my 26 years at the University – means I feel passionately about the School being a friendly, open and supportive place in which to study. We focus on you not just getting a good degree, but on reaching your full potential.

That’s what makes our Law School different.
