About the course

Much of what we do on a day-to-day basis depends on the effective planning, overseeing and implementation of activities that can be termed 'projects'. An awareness of how to spot and manage pitfalls, unforeseen hitches or circumstances is vital for the success of any project.

This two-day course takes you through the principles of project management and the stages of managing a project.  

You will learn to:

  • Develop, implement and evaluate a project plan within your own area of responsibility
  • Understand the principles of tools used by organisations to ensure efficient services including Lean and Total Quality Management
  • Reflect on learning through case studies and other activities
  • Understand how this may impact on your own areas of responsibility

This course is essential for anyone involved in the planning, implementation or monitoring of projects in any organisation.

Teaching methods

The course is taught by Paul Marigliani MBA

Paul Marigliani has worked as a practicing Project Manager for over 25 years, initially in the utilities industry but mainly in the IT and business arena.  His roles during this period have included Project Manager, Programme Manager, Project Director, PMO Manager and Head of Operations.  In addition to being an active project practitioner, for the last 8 years Paul has also taught project management on University of Hertfordshire MSc and MBA programmes.

Paul’s current role is Head of Operations and Implementation for a major professional services business which provides business process outsourcing, implementation and support, data analytics and advisory and consulting services to customers in core life sciences, intellectual property and government and academic business areas.
