Why choose this course?
This course is to enable participants to train as Group Facilitators with adults with medically unexplained symptoms and to be competent and confident in delivering The BodyMind Approach (TBMA) to a high professional standard.
It will help you to understand the importance of the group and the processes inherent in conducting groups with adults; to have gained knowledge of factors relating to patients with medically unexplained symptoms; to understand the neuroscience relevant to trauma and stress responses in the bodymind; to appreciate the role of insecure attachment in the development and maintenance of symptoms; to conduct a short practice with peers on one aspect of TBMA for assessment; and to certify trainees who pass the assessment as TBMA group facilitators.
This course is ideal for those arts therapists/counsellors/psychotherapists/counselling psychologists and experienced health professionals with substantial practice working with patients with medically unexplained symptoms (MUS) and a personal therapy background.
Applications are open to the arts therapists/counsellors/psychotherapists/counselling psychologists and other suitably qualified health professionals with substantial experience of working with patients with MUS. This is a follow-up course, by invitation only, for those who have satisfactorily completed the introductory course. It is designed for qualified professionals aiming to integrate TBMA into their practice for people with MUS. A commitment to attend both days is required.
