CIM Diploma in Professional Marketing

About the course

A CIM qualification at Level 6 develops your strategic marketing skills enabling you to progress your marketing career and perform professionally at a management level.  Successful completion of the CIM Diploma will establish the knowledge, skills and understanding to be able to carry out an active and essential professional marketing role within the workplace. 

You may join the course at any module start point, depending on your qualifications and experience.  Modules run for approximately 2 - 3 months; the full course will take approximately 9 months to complete. Please note there is no teaching over the summer. 

You can set your own pace of study to tailor the course around your other commitments. 

The CIM Diploma is for marketing managers and marketers working in operational and supervisory roles, who are looking to improve their strategic ability and management skills and advance their careers.

You can choose to study the whole course (three modules), or pick just one module to receive a CIM Award

The Digital Customer Experience - starts October 2021 and September 2022
Customer behaviour has dramatically changed with the digital revolution. This module provides you with insights into the digital customer experience and highlights ways to adapt to this changing market, allowing you to fulfil customers’ strategic needs. It will provide the knowledge and skills to select appropriate channels to market to meet objectives. It will also help to ensure you provide the desired customer experience, by understanding the customer's journey while complying with relevant legislation and regulation.

Marketing & Digital Strategy - starts January 2022
This module will enable you to take both a traditional and digital strategic approach to marketing planning, integrating digital strategy, models, frameworks and techniques throughout to achieve competitive advantage.

Innovation in Marketing - starts April 2022
This module enables you to take a visionary approach and embed innovation to help your organisation deal with the challenges of a fast-moving marketplace. You will be able to understand the relationship between marketing and innovation and recognise the key factors in building and nurturing innovation within the marketing function. You will also be able to use internal and external marketing in supporting a specific innovation.

Teaching methods

The course will utilise live learning online/digital tuition, in the form of workshops and tutorials, and full support, resources and access to tutors will be provided.  The teaching takes place on Tuesday evenings from 1900-2100.

The CIM tutor team are experienced marketing academics and practitioners who teach on a variety of courses within the Business School.

The course is supported by distance learning and access to the University's learning resources and those of CIM.

Course fees

Course fee:  £675 per module

University of Hertfordshire alumni, staff and students receive a 20% discount.

Please note: Course fees include tuition and learning materials plus access to the University's learning resouces. 

CIM membership and examination/assessment fees of £190 per module are additional and are payable directly to The Chartered Institute of Marketing.
