The normal entry requirements for the programme are:

Educational experience

We usually require either:

an honours degree of at least 2:2 classification, in a business or non-business-related discipline, from a UK University; or
the equivalent of the above from a recognised University overseas; or
a degree-equivalent professional qualification. This may be from a UK institution or a recognized overseas body.

Where an applicant does not meet the above requirement, their application may still be considered on an individual basis.

Professional experience

Ideally, three years’ managerial experience.

English proficiency

An IELTS score of 6.5 or TOEFL score of 580 (237 CBT, 89 IBT) is required for those whose first language is not English.

All students for whom English is not their first language must produce evidence of their English Language proficiency. The standard required is either an IELTS score of 6.5 (with no less than 5.5 in each band), TOEFL score of 580 (237 CBT, 89 IBT) or an equivalent score on a test recognised by the University of Hertfordshire.

This requirement will be waived if the student has successfully completed an undergraduate degree at a university in the United Kingdom, or another country acceptable to the University of Hertfordshire, where study was in English and the student was based in that university’s home country during study.

Interview

Where an applicant does not meet the above academic or professional requirements, they may be required to attend an interview with a member of the academic staff. This interview will consider their business exposure, leadership skills and professional achievements.

What will I study?

Our teaching and learning methods ensure you are able to actively engage with your own development. All of the online study and teaching resources have been designed in a highly structured and complementary way to take you progressively through business concepts and to give you confidence, enhance your skills and expertise when completing specific tasks. A participative style is used throughout to enable you to learn from your fellow students, as well as from teaching staff. Experiential learning is central to our teaching philosophy, utilising web-based activities and reading, alongside case studies, reflective writing and live or asynchronised discussions.

There is a considerable emphasis on the utilisation of theory and knowledge to make sense of your own and fellow participants' experiences at work. Current media resources or other material will be widely used alongside case histories developed by fellow participants.

Key theoretical models, relevant and contemporary issues and debates addressing the contribution of HRM and people management to organisational success with be included in the following core areas: Principles of Human Resource Management - Strategic HRM and HRM Policy. Application of People Management Practices - Resourcing, Performance and Reward, HR Systems, People Development and Employee Engagement. Contextual HRM aspects and influences - Organisational Behaviour, International and Comparative HRM, Cross Cultural Management and Ethics & Diversity. Student will also develop their professional skills by undertaking individual preferences and styles assessments and reflect on their own professional development.
Strategic Marketing Planning and Entrepreneurship (MBA ONL)	30 Credits	Compulsory
This module will typically be constructed of two parts, with the first part concentrating on marketing understanding and knowledge, and the second part developing applied marketing and entrepreneurial skills.
Financial Management and Analysis (MBA ONL)	30 Credits	Compulsory
This module is designed to enable you to become more confident in the use and limitations of financial information and, thus, interact more effectively with both financial and non-financial management. You will learn how to assess and use financial information, both that provided to external stakeholders (financial statements) and assist in the management of the organisation. In addition, you will produce financial information which you will develop to help solve business problems, including alternative techniques for evaluating major investment projects and explore ways in which they may be financed. The module also explores how financial management and business performance is monitored and managed, how value is created and maintained and how it is distributed to stakeholders. This will include a number of context including not for profit organisations. There will also be an opportunity to reflect upon relevant corporate governance and ethical issues

Strategic Management Research (MBA ONL)	30 Credits	Compulsory
Students will undertake strategic analysis and decision making in the context of real businesses and organisations, exploring the role of unpredictability, rapidly evolving industry architecture and dynamic processes of organisation. Students engage in a range of strategic debates impacting modern organisations, developing their skills as a manager and leader through the exploration of complex business challenges. Creativity, innovation and collaboration are critical success factors within the context of strategic decision making.
Executive Career and Professional Development (MBA ONL)	30 Credits	Compulsory
The module content focusses on the tools of analysis to support professional and career development. The module comprises two core interrelated areas of focus. Firstly, students will investigate management practice in a chosen field, evaluating the professional skills required to succeed within this context. Through reflection, self-evaluation and engagement with industry practitioners from relevant contexts, learners will consider their own career development needs and produce a personal development plan to aid them in their employability. Secondly, the module requires learners to reflect on their programme learning, synthesising and critically evaluating the application of a range of generalist management theories to their chosen field.
