Dealing effectively with multiple challenges at global and local level has become a critical and complex aspect of running a successful business, particularly when striving for growth, sustainability and effective leadership. Hertfordshire Business School is offering international and UK based delegates the opportunity to immerse themselves in intensive and contemporary sessions on key business topics to begin to learn how to deal with these challenges.

The course is part of the MBA Summer School, a one-week programme consisting of eight masterclasses which can be individually selected and combined for bespoke learning. Discounts are available for multiple bookings. 

Masterclasses are lead by senior academics from the Hertfordshire MBA faculty who have proven expertise in their area of research and who regularly contribute to the AMBA approved MBA programme.  

The course will cover:

  • Analysing economics and the globalisation process 
  • Exploring cultural and institutional environments 
  • Analysing structure and strategy of organisations 
  • Evaluating patterns of international labour mobility 
  • Managing cultural diversity

Why choose this course?

The course is designed to introduce applied and critical theoretical insight into managing people across international borders. It is framed around key themes as follows;

  • economics and the globalisation process and the cultural and institutional factors promoting diversity in the international environment 
  • the structures and strategies of MNCs
  • the management of international human resources and influences of international employment relations. 

The course will promote critical insight into contrasting 'varieties of capitalism' and related managerial and employment practices across regions, and will encourage reflective thinking concerning HRM and related practices through the making of international comparisons and searching for new ideas.  

Areas looked at will include:  economics and the globalisation process, the cultural and institutional environment, regions in transformation, multinational corporations, strategies, structures and employment issues, patterns of international labour mobility, including migration, formulating international human resource policies and practices and managing cultural diversity, challenges confronting international labour organisations. 

Entry requirements...

Delegates should ordinarily have a first degree or equivalent and/or 3 to 5 years relevant industry/business experience.

The MBA Summer School masterclasses will give delegates a broad overview of some of the major principles and approaches involved in the Hertfordshire MBA Programme, and the opportunity to apply some selected principles to case studies or in the context of their own experiences.
