About the course

Back to course listing

Dealing effectively with multiple challenges at global and local level has become a critical and complex aspect of running a successful business, particularly when striving for growth, sustainability and effective leadership. Hertfordshire Business School is offering international and UK based delegates the opportunity to immerse themselves in intensive and contemporary sessions on key business topics to begin to learn how to deal with these challenges.

The course is part of the MBA Summer School, a one-week programme consisting of eight masterclasses which can be individually selected and combined for bespoke learning. Discounts are available for multiple bookings.

Masterclasses are lead by senior academics from the Hertfordshire MBA faculty who have proven expertise in their area of research and who regularly contribute to the AMBA approved MBA programme.

The course will cover:

  • Reframing and reflecting on practical experience
  • Examining complexities of organisational life
  • Critically evaluating and reflecting on management and leadership theory in the light of experience
  • Reflecting on emergence of ethics in practice
  • Reflecting on concepts of power, identity, control, compliance and subversion

Course date:  Weds 10 July 2019, 09.00-12.30

Why choose this course?

This masterclass will allow delegates to examine and reflect upon the complexities of organisational life, through participation in experiential events and activities that seek to reframe practical experience, including traditional case study work, business ‘games’, or reflection on personal experience in groups.

The course seeks to explore experientially how management theories may be reconsidered in the light of theories of human interaction and psychology, and in differing contexts. These theories will be examined through discussion of experiences in the group and in participants’ professional practice. Leading and following, power and control, compliance and subversion are examples of themes that arise strongly in group interaction, affecting the motivation and experience of success of working groups.
