Get involved

We want to help you to get the most out of your time at university so that’s why we make sure there’s plenty of ways you can get involved in student life. Taking part in activities such as the student ambassador programme, societies and volunteering is a great way to meet new people, learn new skills and boost your CV – so what are you waiting for?!

You might have heard of Go Herts - our celebration of community spirit and being a Herts student! The Go Herts award is part of that and is given to students who show a deep commitment to extra-curricular activities such as volunteering and work experience.

Join a society and don’t be afraid to talk to people. I felt homesick, but after I joined a society I made a strong friendship group.

Don't overlook extra curricular activities! There is a misconception that having a degree alone will help you secure a job in the future, but the reality is you must show you're able to do many things alongside studying.
