Call for expressions of interest from non-levy paying businesses
The government has recently announced the start of a transition period for non-levy paying small businesses to access the apprenticeship funding through the apprenticeship service that will last from now until March 2020. During this transition employers will be able to reserve funds prior to the commencement of any apprenticeships whether they are new recruits or offered to existing employees to ensure funds are available to pay for training from the point an apprenticeship starts. The Education and Skills Funding Agency has secured 15,000 apprenticeship starts to be reserved between January-March 2020. Non-levy paying employers can reserve up to 3 requests at one time.
With this announcement the University of Hertfordshire is keen to hear from non-levy paying businesses who feel they are well placed to take advantage of this funding.
“For a small to medium size business, an apprenticeship can be a huge investment. Through the Apprenticeship Levy scheme, we’ve been able to support more local, Hertfordshire-based businesses, extending the work of our existing enterprise programmes. This initiative for non-levy paying employers is a great opportunity for local businesses to develop their workforce and introduce new skills that will help their company grow.
