Volunteer Business Support Scheme
The COVID-19 crisis has created significant economic downturn and uncertainty for businesses across the UK. Hertfordshire is particularly vulnerable to these threats due to a high proportion of micro-businesses and small and medium-sized enterprises.
During these unprecedented times, Hertfordshire Growth Hub, the central point of access for business support in the county, has seen a huge increase in demand from businesses that are seeking support to help them minimise the impact of COVID-19.
Working in partnership, the University of Hertfordshire and Hertfordshire Growth Hub, powered by the Hertfordshire LEP, have devised the Volunteer Business Support Scheme. The scheme has created a network of volunteers, all of which will play a vital role in supporting Hertfordshire businesses that are either critically distressed or experiencing new demands. It complements the peer-to-peer mentoring and coaching section of the Hertfordshire Growth Hub's COVID-19 Resource Hub and encourages businesses to work together during this uncertain time.
How will the scheme help my business?
The Volunteer Business Support Scheme has been designed to help start-ups and SMEs bounce back as best they can. By bringing together a network of highly experienced volunteers, your business can now access on-going support.
Your business will be matched to a volunteer from the same sector or similar business background, enabling targeted support and help with navigating through all the available resources. All volunteers have experience of managing or coaching at a strategic level and will act as a critical friend. The scheme is based on continued business and moral support offered online through email/video calls or by telephone and in a way that works for both your business and the volunteer supporter.
