Records management review

Your requirement

Records management review:

  • Do you comply with the Freedom of Information Act, the Data Protection Act and the Public Sector Records Acts?
  • Do you comply with the Lord Chancellor’s Code of Practice on the management of records under Section 46 of the Freedom of Information Act?
  • Do you comply with ISO 15489, the records management standard and the new standard ISO 30301?
  • Do you comply with industry-specific records retention requirements?

If you are in the public sector and don’t meet your compliance requirements you are not only putting your corporate memory at risk but you can become liable to a heavy fine and unwanted press attention.

In the private sector regulatory requirements can be equally demanding and failure to comply can lead to lost court cases, ICO fines and negative publicity.

Our solution

Cimtech can review your records management against your information compliance environment. We will look at records management roles and responsibilities, policies and procedures and training and implementation and compare them with the compliance requirements of your organisation, whether central government, wider public sector or industry-specific.

We can use assessment tools most relevant to your business: the National Archives’ Section 46 self-assessment tool, the NHS Information Governance toolkit or the forthcoming ISO 30304 assessment guide.

Not only will Cimtech deliver a gap analysis showing where the deficiencies lie but we will plan a realistic roadmap for records management improvement with resources, costs and timescales.

A typical Records Management Review will take around 10 days of consultancy time. It can be combined with an Information Audit (see separate information sheet) for a cost-effective and comprehensive review of the current state of your records and information management.
