Physiotherapy courses

Our physiotherapy courses are well established and some of them are approved by both the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP). Our BSc graduates are eligible to register with the HCPC when they successfully complete the course.

Our postgraduate students may also be eligible for Manipulation Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP) membership.

Staff expertise and associations

We have a large team of full and part-time physiotherapy staff who have a broad range of clinical expertise and all are skilled teachers with extensive experience of delivering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as well as short courses. Many of our lecturers work in the clinical environment and undertake research in addition to their teaching commitments which means that they bring their current experiences directly into the student environment.

Our physiotherapy team has strong links with NHS employers in the region and value the close associations that we have with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP), managers, sports providers and local clinicians.

All staff are registered with the HCPC, are fellows or associates of the Higher Education Academy and have an MSc or specialist postgraduate qualification. We also have colleagues with PhDs who have an international profile to their specialty. In addition to this we also invite specialist external lecturers who contribute to the programmes where relevant.

Also, many of our staff:

are involved in professional committees at a national and international level
sit on editorial boards of journals
are involved in writing books
undertake reviews of abstracts for national and international conferences.

Facilities

We have impressive facilities for physiotherapy students including four fully-equipped laboratories, a Simulation centre and a research laboratory.
