UH Music graduate Flux Pavilion is described by fans as the Dubstep God. He has headlined 3 US tours, 2 UK tours, and major festival DJ sets, including Glastonbury, Reading, Coachella, and EDC Vegas. Respected Radio 1 DJ Annie Nightingale said: 'I start every set with Flux Pavillion', and The Walt Disney Company even asked him to remix the theme to Star Wars Rebels in order to draw attention to the series.
UH Music graduate Alex Lamy has been scoring films and working in the US with top film composer Hans Zimmer, who has composed scores for many popular films such as The Lion King, The Dark Knight and 12 Years a Slave. Alex sent this email from LA to Music staff at the University while working with Hans Zimmer:
'(I wanted to) write to say thank you. I wouldn't have been able to get to this point without your help and advice back at Herts, and being out here has reminded me of that.'
UHR record label
We have our own record labels which offer you plenty of opportunity to get involved and gain valuable experience.
UH Recordings offers a unique opportunity for students to participate in the creation of a professional product.
The label involves both undergraduate and postgraduate students in all aspects of the recording and production process under careful professional guidance, providing invaluable experience.
INFUSE is a record label designed to infuse students into the music industry through working with professionals already in the business.
Art students provide design, music industry students marketing and management, and sound design technology students glean valuable experience from the recording and editing sessions.
Jam Jar is our live gigging event, where our students perform to audiences of over 500. It's run for the students by the students.
Our students perform and run sound projection/live video feeds, and control marketing, promotion and front-of-house. You could join them in hosting these exciting events.
You can work in the music industry during your course. With us you can take a 6-8 week placement in industry, or a full year out between years 2 and 3.
