Samuel O'Donnell - BSc (Hons) Computer Science (Software Engineering)
Currently working for IBM as a WebSphere Application Developer.
I work as a WebSphere Application Developer at IBM. My work involves programming java servers for the purposes of enhancing and monitoring IBM's WebSphere application server products. Whilst studying Software Engineering at the University of Hertfordshire, I was able to get a placement with IBM. My course was heavily Java based and the skills I gained from academic activities have been invaluable.
The placement year I did at IBM gave me a great understanding of what large organisations expect from their employees. Samuel O'Donnell, from Watford who graduated with BSc (Hons) Computer Science (Software Engineering) and is now working for IBM as a WebSphere Application Developer.
Mathew van Buuren - BSc (Hons) Computer Science (Software Engineering)
Currently working for Amazon as a Software Development Engineer.
I am currently working as a Software Development Engineer for Amazon. This involves working on the back-end services of the LOVEFILM website, and integrating with Amazon and Amazon devices. Amazon gives me the time to innovate and design new services and components which is what I really love.
I spent a year at Markit Group Ltd, where I developed my skills further, based on the grounding given to me during my studies and I was then able to apply this experience to my final year project.
Elliot Ford - BSc (Hons) Computer Science (Software Engineering)
Currently working for Lockheed Martin as a Software Engineer.
I studied Computer Science at the University of Hertfordshire and I now work as Software Engineer at Lockheed Martin for the department of Aerospace and Ministry of Defence.
My work involves developing software to be used by the Military. During my studies, I worked part-time for Blue Chip, an IBM maintenance company.
Liam Bove - BSc (Hons) Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence)
Currently working for RTS – Xerox as a 1st Line Analyst.
I studied Computer Science in the field of Artificial Intelligence at the University of Hertfordshire. I am currently working as a 1st Line Analyst at RTS - Xerox providing IT support services to McDonalds in the UK and Ireland.
I create tools using programming languages; Visual Basic, java, php and xml, all of which I learnt in my studies.
Amanda Field - BSc (Hons) Information Technology
Currently working for tesco.com as an IT Business Analyst.
I studied Information Technology at the University of Hertfordshire, and did my placement at GSK. I now work for tesco.com as an IT Business Analyst. My work includes determining IT business requirements for the stores used by online deliveries.
Whilst my Information Technology studies gave me a great background knowledge and confidence, my placement broadened my knowledge and interpersonal skills.
