Accounting

The Accounting group takes pride in its established reputation with professional accounting bodies for excellence in teaching and the quality of graduates it produces.

Accounting is home to a diverse group of academics whose teaching and research interests cover key areas of accounting and finance such as auditing, corporate governance, financial reporting, taxation and management accounting.

An important feature of the group is its strong commitment towards high-quality teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. This commitment is demonstrated by the strong links with local professional accounting bodies and many of its members participate in the Chartered Professional body committees.

The group provides academic input to both undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses with a growing number of doctorate students.

Exemptions from Professional Qualifications

Some qualifications allow for exemptions from exams with professional accountancy bodies.

We’re accredited by, and work in collaboration with:

  • The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
  • The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW)
  • The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)

Exemptions are subject to change at any point and therefore, it is advised you speak to the subject group lead for up to date exemptions for each programme. Although the group endeavours to retain all exemptions, professional bodies can remove them at any time, without notice.
