What is your current role and how did you get to this point in your career?

I am currently a Programme Officer with UNEP-WCMC. I manage several multi-million dollar international projects which bring scientific evidence on biodiversity and ecosystem services to decision makers across government sectors.

How did your studies at the University of Hertfordshire help shape your career?

I studied at the University of Hertfordshire as a mature student, having gained 10 plus years experience in retail management. Changing career was a big step and my studies at University helped me to prepare well to move into a new field.

What made you decide to study at this University?

The programme available and the location.

What was the best or most useful thing about your course?

The coursework that contained a practical, 'real-world' element.

What is your stand-out memory from your time at the University?

Supportive atmosphere for learning as a mature student.

Are you still in contact with friends you met at the University of Hertfordshire?

Yes.

What advice would you give your younger self if you were starting at the University tomorrow?

Don't get too stressed about exams!

Do you have any advice for University of Hertfordshire graduates who are considering a career in your industry?

Gain as much experience as possible and take the opportunity to network.

What are your future career plans/ ambitions?

Continue to work at an international level in projects which have an impact on biodiversity conservation.
