University experience and life
Caroline decided to undertake a degree in Sports Studies to give her a backup plan after she retires from her career in professional football. While she loves football, she understands that it can be very unpredictable, and a degree would give her ‘more security and stability.’ She states that she had always wanted to go to university and decided to go for it.
While at university, her studies gave her ‘a distraction away from the pressure of football’ and enabled her to have another focus. She says that the most useful thing about her course is that it enabled her ‘to meet people from all over the World and gain a greater understanding of sport at different levels.’ Caroline also took part in competitive sports during her time at the University. She says, ‘My stand out memory from university was the sports awards - it was always a good night!’
Caroline has enjoyed a lot of success in her football career since graduating. She plans to play in Scotland's first ever women's World Cup and continue to enjoy her passion for the sport.
