The Education Liaison team visit schools and colleges to deliver talks all year round - whether in person or virtually. To help you access information whenever you need it, we've recorded our talks. On this page you'll find bite-sized versions of these.

About the talk
We offer advice on the different types of accommodation, when to apply, deposits and what happens if you don’t get your first choice of university and apply through clearing.

Degree apprenticeships or full-time university?
About the talk
Do you know what career you want to pursue? Is a degree apprenticeship offered in that area? Do you have the self discipline and time management skills required to work full-time and study? This short video compares the main differences between studying for a degree full time at University and through a degree apprenticeship.
I chose to do a management degree apprenticeship because it gave me a brilliant opportunity to work for one of the world's largest travel companies. I get 4 years work experience while getting a degree which is quite a unique experience.

Personal statements: top tips
About the talk
Writing a strong personal statement can increase your chances of receiving offers from your preferred university choices. In this short video we offer advice about how you can structure your personal statement, what to include and presentation tips.
I was a bit daunted at first but once I put pen to paper it started flowing. My top tip would be to get those examples in, bring it to life!

Preparing for university
About the talk
Starting university can be a daunting prospect, whether it’s worrying about the academic challenges, making friends or adjusting to living away from home. This short video gives you a quick overview of what you can do to get ready.
There are university-specific Facebook groups that you can join beforehand. This can help make you feel part of the university community before you arrive. It can also make it seem less daunting if you know a few people starting with you.
