Golden glory for Hertfordshire Business School student in European Swimming Championships

15 August 2018

Hertfordshire Business School student Georgia Davies, who is currently studying for an online degree in Business and Sport Management at the University of Hertfordshire, has just won gold and silver medals at the European Swimming Championships.

Georgia competed in the recent Glasgow 2018 European Championships and won gold in 50m Backstroke, silver in the 100m Backstroke and gold in 4x100m mixed medley swimming. Georgia has achieved all this whilst studying a 30 credit level 5 module on her University course.

'I was so thrilled with the results,' said Georgia. 'I am so happy to be able to study so flexibly with the University of Hertfordshire because it allows me to train abroad and study when it suits me, never compromising my training or competition, as well as giving me something different to focus on outside of training.'

Jarrod Lippiatt, Programme Leader for the Business and Sport Management – online course, said: “We’re delighted for Georgia. While at the European Swimming Championships and at last year’s Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, Georgia has continued to study and complete assessments with the support of Business School module leaders.

'The Business and Sport Management online degree continues to attract high performing athletes like Georgia Davies that value the opportunity to study flexibly alongside their significant sport commitments.'
