A student from the University of Hertfordshire is competing in the Netball World Youth Cup which is taking place in Gaborone, Botswana this month.

The Netball World Youth Cup is an under 21 competition with the best netballing nations in the world taking part.

Bethany Sutherland, a Bsc Sport Studies student at the University of Hertfordshire, has been selected to play for her home country, Scotland, and will also be captaining the side for this campaign.

Bethany said “I am so excited to be going to Botswana to compete in the world cup. Playing against some of the best teams in the world isn’t something you get to do every day so I’m going to embrace every second. Being captain is an even bigger honour and I can’t wait to lead the girls into court for our first game.”

The competition started on 3rd July and the final will be on the 16th. The team will play Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Northern Ireland and Samoa with the first game being held against Sri Lanka on the 8th of July.
