Cafe Scientifique continues successful run in Hatfield
The next session of Café Scientifique is being held at Hatfield’s Social Club on Wednesday 8 February 2017 at 19.30-21.30.
Café Scientifique is a forum for anyone interested in science to discuss and explore the latest ideas in science and technology outside a traditional academic setting to promote public engagement with science.
The first Cafe Scientifique in the UK was held in Leeds in 1998. From there, cafes gradually spread across the country. Currently, some seventy or so cafes meet regularly to hear scientists or writers on science talk about their work and discuss it with diverse audiences.
The upcoming meeting is entitled “Living through technological disruption: you ain’t seen nothing yet” and will explore how and what technologies are affecting the world and how some businesses are harnessing the changes to make massive disruptive changes.
The meeting will be held by guest speaker Marc Dowd from Manage Disruption Ltd who has worked for nearly a decade as a technology advisor to leaders of multi-million pound companies. He founded his company two years ago to promote an understanding of how technology is changing us and our world for the better and what leaders need to do to manage it.
Admission is free and anyone who would like to attend can simply turn up on the day.
Future events will be on 15 March, 12 April and 10 May 2017. Please send us an email if you are interested in contributing for a future session.
