We're named one of the best Digital Animation, Games and Visual Effects schools in the world, according to latest Rookies rankings

The University of Hertfordshire has once again been ranked one of the best universities in the world for animation, games design and visual effects courses, according to the Rookies World School Rankings 2020 – the world’s most renowned rankings for institutions that prepare artists for careers in creative media and entertainment.

The tenth annual Rookie Awards are based on the quality and performance of over 3,700 student entries submitted to the Rookie Awards 2020 from artists in 88 countries.

In the latest rankings, the University of Hertfordshire is named the best in the world for Production Excellence in Game Design and Development for the second consecutive year. The University also ranked best in the UK (and second best in the world) for Production Excellence in Visual Effects and Animation and the third best 2D Animation School in the world.

The University of Hertfordshire was also ranked best in the UK and 5th globally for Top Visual Effects Schools and Colleges.

Phil Healey, Dean of the School of Creative Arts at the University of Hertfordshire, said: “We are all so proud of our students’ incredible success in winning such an amazing set of awards. Being ranked best in the world, for the second consecutive year, is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the hard work of our expert teaching staff, world-leading technical skills, and the exciting creative ideas of our students, here in the School of Creative Arts at the University of Hertfordshire.”
