Winning Herts & Minds event is a big success for student teams
On 13 March 2019 Hertfordshire Business School was delighted to host the second Winning Herts & Minds Experience Day. In a day-long live Innovation event on the theme of sustainability, ten groups of students from the undergraduate Marketing degree course were joined by a team of business mentors to prepare presentations to a selected panel of judges.
Each team was asked to generate an innovative and creative business solution to present to the panel. The challenge focused on three environmental and sustainability challenges:
- Fast Fashion
- Food Waste
- Plastics in the Ocean
Each team focused on one of the challenges and proposed a solution in response to a brief that was given on the day, then presented their innovative solution in a final pitch to a panel of judges who scored:
- The idea’s feasibility
- The presenting team’s creativity
- The quality of the presentation
In total, the School hosted 120 participants; the performance of the Marketing students was formally assessed by members of the academic team as part of their module.
The event was promoted and organised by five students from the undergraduate Event Management course, whose performance was also assessed as part of their course. The day was a great success in terms of ground-breaking innovation in Learning and Teaching and the student and mentor feedback has been highly encouraging.
The event was sponsored by our partners Grant Thornton and Clock Media. Our business mentors included representatives from HSBC, Steve Sinnott Foundation, Oxford Innovation, The Marketing Centre, Berkeley PR International, David Studd & Associates, Right Angle, Agents of Change, Pro-Tech Recruitment, Flourish with Social Media, Anna Wilk Consulting and Pocket PA.
Well done to all involved!
