Welcome to the Festival of Ideas Reimagined

The world as we know it has changed dramatically, and with that our ability to host live events for everyone to enjoy and participate in together. In light of this, we’re excited to announce that the Festival of Ideas has been reimagined (hence the change in name!) and will be launching here on Sunday 28th June virtually at 10:00.

The festival is part of the Hertfordshire Year of Culture 2020; a year dedicated to showcasing Hertfordshire as a county of creative and cultural opportunity. June is all about ‘big ideas’ (which the festival is sure to bring plenty of!) and we are proud to be hosting the flagship event of the month.

We’ll be celebrating with art exhibitions, thought pieces and the fascinating views of Helen Lederer, Mike Newell and Marie Le Conte, to name just a few. From the comfort of your own homes, you can enjoy our line-up on the day or feel free to pick and choose your own itinerary. Don't forget to keep coming back as we unveil more bright ideas throughout the month.

We’re looking forward to celebrating the wonderful ideas that can come from crisis.

I am proud that the University of Hertfordshire will be hosting the Festival of Ideas from the 28th June 2020. The festival will tie in with a fantastic programme of events taking place throughout 2020 as part of the Hertfordshire Year of Culture, and will celebrate the restorative qualities that the arts and literature can offer to help sustain us through periods of crisis, as well as thoughts on what our world might look like after the pandemic.
