Where does the University’s money come from?

Tuition fees make up 65% of our University’s income, with additional income coming from our subsidiary businesses (such as Unobus, Hertfordshire Sports Village and Conferencing) and research grants.

The introduction of tuition fees did not lead to a huge increase in funding for universities. Before 2012 universities used to receive significant amounts of funding direct from the Government but when Government funding was cut, higher tuition fees were introduced. So the cost of a degree has moved from being paid for by the Government (and ultimately taxpayers) to being paid for by the individual student.
