LGBT History Month support and resources

We are committed to supporting our community broaden their understanding and knowledge of LGBT+ History Month.  We have collated recommended resources, including reading, listening and viewing ideas. We hope these will support your personal study, understanding and help you become an ally.

Support at Herts

The University of Hertfordshire is an active member of the Hertfordshire Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans Partnership of public authorities, working to ensure equality of opportunities and treatment of LGBT service users.

Plus, the University's Students' Union has an active LGBT+ Society for students. They run weekly events for members, in addition to confidential support events throughout the year. Find out more about the LGBT+ Society on their website. Plus, read Chloe McKendrick's article about the LGBT+ society and her own experience of joining (and becoming President).

For the current academic year, you can join our societies free of charge. Follow the LGBT+ society on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook or you can email the LGBT+ society.

Staff at the University can also find support, guidance and information about our staff LGBT+ network and Employee Assistance Programme on our staff intranet, by visiting HertsHub.

A message from our Chaplain

Our University Chaplain, Reverend Fiona Souter, shares her thoughts on the inclusive teachings of Christianity. She reminds us that no one is outside of God’s love and reflects on the power of being who God meant us to be.
