Community and Safeguarding Team (community@herts.ac.uk)

The Community and Safeguarding Team is made up of Community Support Officers, who support students living in private off-campus accommodation. They handle their welfare and discipline. The team can also offer advice on many issues, including housing and tenancy problems, neighbourhood disputes, landlord or letting agent concerns, and housemate disagreements.

The Community and Safeguarding Team is also a point of contact for Hatfield residents experiencing student related concerns. The team works closely alongside local statutory organisations and services to promote community safety, and regularly attend multi-agency community forums and events. Furthermore, within the team sits the International Student Support Officer (ISSO).

  • The ISSO supervises a team of Student Guides. They handle arranging the arrival and welcoming of our overseas students.
  • They aim to promote a sense of community on and off campus.
  • The ISSO handles organising a variety of community projects, trips, and events for all students throughout the year – especially students travelling from overseas.

You can contact the International Student Support Officer via email: community@herts.ac.uk
