Bsc Hons Information Technology Online Level 6

This programmes is designed for those who have already gained 240 credits from an HND, Foundation Degree or equivalent and wish to "top-up" to an honours degree.

For the Information Technology programme you take "Strategic Information Systems Planning and Management", a choice of taught modules and a specialist Information Systems project. You may wish also to consider the Computer Science programme, which has a more technical focus.

The programme is available for full-time study or part-time for those who wish to continue working.

When you successfully complete the programme you will be awarded a BSc (Honours) in Information Technology from the University of Hertfordshire.

Entry requirements

  • Two year degree or diploma in Computer Studies or similar:
  • 240 credits from a BTEC HND, Foundation Degree, IMIS Higher Diploma or equivalent
  • The subject of your qualification should be computing-related, for example Computer Studies or IT with suitable modules at Level 5 to enable you to study Information Technology

  • Strategic Information Systems Planning and Management

Choose two taught modules:

  • Principles and Applications of Web Services
  • Quantum Computing
  • Computer Network Protocols and Architectures
  • Databases
  • Business Intelligence (Business School Module)

Choose one of the following:

  • Information Technology Project
  • Rich Internet Applications Design and Development

Assessment

Coursework - there will be a fixed date for assignment submission.

Online tests - a fixed a 24-hour time slot is normally assigned for each online test to be taken.

Study rate

A typical rate is 60 credits per year, (30 credits per semester). However study rates are flexible and you can reduce the rate, take a break, or study level 6 at a faster rate and so complete sooner. Lower level awards are also possible.
