Time and timescales

Do I have to follow a strict timetable and log on at specific times?

The programme modules have fixed start and end dates. The advantage of this approach is that you will be studying as part of a group of people, all roughly studying the same topics, so you can help and support each other. The dates of assignment submission and online tests are also fixed. The online tests are available usually to 24-hours to ensure all students can find a convenient opportunity to complete them.

To help you pace your studies we have organised each module into a number of units, and we provide you with a recommended schedule of study. The schedule tells you which units to study each week, but there is no need to log on at specific times (other than for the assessments). If you follow the recommended schedule, studying at days and times of the week that suit you, then you will be ready for the assessments on the dates that are published in the Module Guide, at the start of each module.

Will I be able to take a break from the programme?

Yes, you will be able to take a break from the programme for one or more semesters, depending on module availability - normally up to a year in total.

When does the programme start?

  • Business courses: September, January and May
  • Business Level 6 / Top up: September
  • Computer Science courses: September and January
  • Creative Arts courses : September
  • Engineering courses: January 2014, then every September and January
  • Mental Health Recovery course: November 2013, then every September
  • Public Health course: September and January

Finish your studies sooner: increase your rate of study

BA(Hons) Business Administration (online)

The BA(Hons) Business Administration (online) is offered part time over 6 years as standard (2 years for top up) where you study 60 credits over two semesters. If you are keen to finish your degree sooner, it may be possible to increase the rate of study to complete your degree in 3, 4 or 5 years (or 1 year for top up) subject to approval of the programme tutor. This means you can study the additional modules over the third semester break.

All students will start the first semester studying two modules. During this time, contact your programme tutor to express your wish to increase your rate of study.  The programme tutor will base their decision on your current performance on the course, ensuring an increased rate of study will be manageable for you. The programme tutor will monitor your progress and may review your study pattern if necessary.

This increased rate of study is only available for the Business Administration (online) course. Back to BA(Hons) Business Administration (online) course details
