EWOD droplet manipulation

Development of automated EWOD systems for sample collection and transport.

EWOD Droplet Transport

Electro-Wetting on Dielectric (EWOD) is a microfluidic technique which utilises the change in contact angle of a droplet sitting on a dielectric substrate when charge is built up on the dielectric by means of an electric field.

When correctly sequenced this change in contact angle can be employed to transport the droplet from one charged region to another (digital microfluidics).

There are numerous applications of EWOD droplet manipulation including droplet based chemistry and collection and concentration of deposited target biologicals for biodetection.
