Overview

Mechanical behaviour and corrosion of I.F. steel-aluminium self-piercing riveted joints

Supervisor: Dr A. Chrysanthou

Student: Mr Y. Ioannou

Collaborating researcher: Dr L. Han (Visiting Research Fellow)

Self-piercing riveting is used by the automotive industry to join together aluminium alloys and to join dissimilar alloys of aluminium and steel. This study was the fourth that was undertaken by the group on self-piercing riveting and was concerned with the mechanical behaviour of self-piercing riveted joints between interstitial-free (I.F.) steel and aluminium alloys 5754 and 5182. In addition, the corrosion behaviour of these joints was investigated.
