The current study investigates the failure mechanisms of state-of-the-art industrial gas turbine components focusing at the first stage turbine vane base material and coating, which is affected the most, by the combustion exit gas heat. Additionally, this study investigates the potential reasons of the turbine vane internal cooling air holes obstruction and the negative effect on the component lifetime. The means of reconditioning and reusing industrial gas turbines will be investigated and a business model will be considering the economic benefits will be established.
