Extragalactic astronomy

We carry out research in galaxy and structure formation over all cosmic epochs.

We have major roles in several large observational surveys spanning the whole of the electromagnetic spectrum that use both space-and ground-based facilities. We variously combine data from these surveys with observations of individual galaxies and with detailed theoretical studies of the physical processes involved in feedback. We also build synthetic models of stellar populations within galaxies.
