We welcome applications for interesting and innovative research in the disciplines of English Literature, Film, English Language, and Creative Writing at the University of Hertfordshire.
Study for a PhD or Master's in English Literature, English Language, Film or Creative Writing
Students are currently working on a wide variety of topics from Shakespeare to Anglo-Indian writing to vampires.
All members of staff are active researchers.
PhD in English
A PhD in English Literature, English Language, Film or Creative Writing can be taken full-time (up to 4 years) or part-time (up to 7 years).
It is based on the research and completion of a research project in any field within these subject areas for which expert supervision can be provided.
The resulting thesis, which should typically be around 80,000 words in length, is defended in a viva voce (oral examination) led by an external examiner.
Taught Masters Programme
We offer the following Masters Programmes, which can be taken full-time (12 months) or part-time (2 years):
PhD funding
Fee-Waiver scholarships in English Literature are currently available to Home/EU students for full-time or part-time PhD research (deadline 30 August 2012).
In addition to fees paid for 3 years, full-time students will receive a £1000 pa bursary (£500 part-time).
