The Social Sciences Arts and Humanities Research institute comprises a thriving community of some two hundred research students.

Thriving research culture

SSAHRI is part of a wider Doctoral College designed to bring together the wider research community to make a vibrant and supportive research culture across the University of Hertfordshire.

The Institute offers programmes at Masters and Doctoral level and a range of professional doctorate for those who wish to use their advance standing in business and the professions as a platform for further research.

Working together

Collaboration across disciplines is at the centre of SSAHRI's ethos.

The Institute offers numerous opportunities to share and benefit from one another’s expertise from multi-disciplinary supervisory teams to student and staff conferences.

Sharing knowledge

Each of SSAHRI’s subject areas offers a range of seminars, training events and public lectures.

SSAHRI’s researchers are committed to sharing their research with the community at large and we work with many local museums and heritage organisations through UH Galleries and our Heritage Hub.   

Doctoral College

Through our Doctoral College, we also offer a comprehensive generic research training programme to help you get the most from your research degree, and subject specific research training.

Our students regularly contribute to conferences at home and in the UK and we have a thriving programme of activities to help you plan your career and disseminate your research.

Our Research Tutors and Programme Directors are pleased to advise applicants and you can also contact our research administrators for advice and additional information.
