The outcome
The Music research submitted by the University of Hertfordshire was judged to be:
- 55 per cent – of international quality
- 15 per cent – world-leading or internationally excellent quality
- 40 per cent – internationally recognised.
The research environment in Music at Hertfordshire is developing rapidly with increased recruitment of research students and with the appointment of Timothy Blinko as Professor of Music in 2006, and Rob Godman as Reader in Music in 2007.
The development of the UK's first Music Industry Research Group (MEIRG) is an exciting initiative developing from a high-level research project with UK Music. MEIRG will be lead by David Bahanovich and it will extend considerably the remit of music research within the University.
