In recent years, a debate has emerged within moral epistemology with respect to the question of whether there is something distinctively problematic about forming moral convictions on the basis of moral testimony. In this talk, I investigate some of the arguments in this debate on the hypothesis that the problems in question, such as they are, are substantively moral or political.
