I am interested in joining the Public Involvement in Research Group – how can I find out more?
To find out more about the PIRG please email Elaine McNeilly or phone her on 01707 281390. Elaine works part-time so email is preferred.
Can anyone join?
Yes, anyone who has an interest in health research can join. We are committed to encouraging people to join from a range of diverse backgrounds.
Can I nominate myself?
Yes, you can phone or email Elaine McNeilly. We will discuss with you your experience and interests and will then invite you to join either the hub group or a sub-group.
How much time is involved?
This varies according to how much you want to be involved.
What training and support will I receive?
We tailor the training and support to our members' needs. For example, training for any co-researcher role would be given by the research project team. All members have access to the University’s Learning Resource Centre.
What will I be reimbursed for?
Travel to meetings will be reimbursed. INVOLVE guidelines are drawn upon to reimburse project-specific activities such as attending management group meetings. An honoraria is also available for members of the hub group.
