Services provided by the Clinical Trials Support Network
The Clinical Trials Service Network will function in three different ways: to facilitate, collaborate, and investigate.
How the CTSN will function and the services it will provide
As a facilitator
Facilitating access to potential research sites in all sectors and/or research participants for projects fully managed externally.
As a collaborator
Working in collaboration with researchers the services provided by the CTSN could include some or all of the following:
- Advice on research design and protocol development
- Study costing
- Sponsorship arrangements; peer review
- Ethics, R&D and MHRA approvals
- Site recruitment
- Participant recruitment
- Study management and data collection to GCP standards
- Monitoring
- Pharmacovigilance and adverse event reporting
- Analysis and contribution to report writing
As an investigator
Initiating research in collaboration with others from universities, NHS, social care or industry and taking full responsibility for its conduct, analysis and reporting. Initially, the collaborator role will be most prominent; the other modes will increase as the CTSN becomes established.
