Research Activities, Links and Institutional Memberships

The vibrant research culture in the department is reflected in the range of its regular activities. There are weekly research seminars, delivered by staff, postgraduates and prominent external speakers, both national and international, as well as regular staff/postgraduate reading groups.

The student-run Philosophy Society organizes talks and events such as the annual Philosophy Weekend, which is held at Cumberland Lodge in Windsor Great Park. 

Philosophy also hosts many international research conferences.

The department has a number of international connections. It has socrates links allowing regular staff exchanges with the other, European philosophy departments.

It is home to several prominent research groups /academic societies (e.g. British Wittgenstein Society , Research Group in Philosophy of Information (GPI)).

It has strong links with other internal departments, especially Psychology and Computer Science and is an institutional member of the London Advanced Study Philosophy Programme and the Forum for European Philosophy.
