Sustainable Business Practices Research Interest Group (SPRING)
Description
Launched in January 2007, SPRING is very much involved with the activity of Green Potential, the environmental consulting group that gathers environmental management experts from across the University.
The Head of the Unit is actively involved in research in the Low Carbon Environmental Goods and Services (LCEGS) sector and in sustainable business models such as Product Service Systems (PSS).

The unit aims to:
- Carry out research on sustainable business practices encompassing marketing, strategy, supply chain management and other business disciplines
- Research the Low Carbon Environmental Goods and Services (LCEGS) industry and opportunities arising from this sector
- Identify strengths and weaknesses of the sector with a view to position SPRING as an advisory body to the government Low Carbon Industrial Strategy
- Become an advisory body to the LCEGS sector to support its growth and pursuit of international opportunities

Indicative Research and Consultancy Projects
Indicative research and consultancy projects, that the unit has got involved in includes:
- Carrying out LCEGS (Low Carbon Environmental Goods and Services) research with a view to collaborate with WRAP and DEFRA (Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs)
- Research on the ICT enabled Low Carbon Technology sector (also referred as Green ICT Applications) on behalf of UKTI and in collaboration with Exemplas and Intellect
- Research in co-branding of recycle resources as part of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership
- Carrying out research projects on Sustainable Marketing projects as part of Green Potential activities
