Science and Technology Research Institute - STRI

The University of Hertfordshire's Science and Technology Research Institute (STRI) is a vibrant, multidisciplinary community of more than 160 research staff and students. The research is organised within four Research Centres addressing the following themes:

Astrophysics

Astrophysics

Our studies into the history of the universe focus on the formation and evolution of galaxies and stars. We collaborate internationally on a range of ground- and space-based projects, taking a lead role in major surveys.

Atmosphere

Atmosphere

Our studies of the atmosphere help the science community, policy-makers and industry to understand more about climate change and air pollution, and their impact on human health.

Computing

Computing

In computing we follow three main research themes. High-performance algorithms is a long-standing area of expertise that we apply to financial modelling, medical imaging and space flight.

Engineering

Engineering

We have engineering programmes in microfluidics and microengineering; materials and structures; fluid mechanics; radio and mobile communications; and agriculture and environment.
