RAE 2008 results for nursing and midwifery – UoA 11 .

Research plays a vital role in Nursing and Midwifery. Nurses and midwives involved in research activities are mainly located in Centre for Research in Primary and Community Care (CRIPACC) and in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, but some are also located in the School of Health and Emergency Professions and in the School of Social, Community and Health Studies.

In the last Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), Unit 10 (Nursing) was awarded a score of 4 which placed the University of Hertfordshire in the highest position for a post-1992 university, with reference to Nursing, and in the UK Top 10 for nursing research.

Since that time, through focused investment, the good work has continued and key personnel are confident that an even higher score can be achieved at the next RAE in 2008.

The close collaboration with CRIPACC and the other two Schools, and more recently with the Health and Human Sciences Research Institute will continue to promote research in Nursing and Midwifery.
