Health and Human Sciences Research Institute


Times Higher (Dec 2008) reported the University to be a ‘rising star’ in research following the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise. Health and Human Sciences Research Institute (HHSRI) was key to these achievements submitting staff in four areas, Nursing, Pharmacy and Pharmacology, Psychology and Social Work. Up to 90% was rated as ‘International Quality’ research.

Across all disciplines the 50+ research collaborations with overseas universities reflects the international status of research through Schools and Centers that make up the Research Institute.

Research at the University was judged to be of international quality in terms of originality, significance and rigour, when the national Research Assessment Exercise 2008 results were released in December 2008.

A new piece of equipment has been installed at the University of Hertfordshire to train radiotherapy students to treat cancer patients.

Showcase success

In October 2008, the University hosted the Health Showcase. It was a diverse and interesting event with a few crowd pullers, such as Professor Richard Wiseman's World's Most Relaxing Room.
