UH invited to exhibit at UNESCO World Conference on Higher Education
The School of Computer Science at the University of Hertfordshire has been invited to exhibit at the 2009 World Conference on Higher Education in Paris at UNESCO Headquarters from 5 to 8 July 2009.
This is a highly prestigious invitation-only event, with 1200 influential attendees from all over the world at the highest levels in business, education and government.
UH will be showcasing its innovative online degree programmes in Computer Science: the BSc Final Year (top-up) and the Masters programme, which features a range of advanced awards for Computer Science graduates and routes into IT for others. These programmes are available worldwide and, owing to their flexible nature, are suitable for those situations where conventional education may not be feasible.
Of particular interest is the "tutored e-Learning" model where the University partners with local education and training organizations to deliver these programmes with a blended approach. The University will be looking to meet prospective partners and government departments to discuss business opportunities and to explore ways of building capacity in the region.

The Conference will bring together key stakeholders to forge a new commitment to the development of higher education.
It will take stock of the changes in higher education and research since the last World Conference in 1998 and address the new dynamics shaping the strategic agenda for the development of higher education policies and institutions in the foreseeable future. The conference will also pay special attention to African higher education and propose a concrete action plan to support its revitalisation in cooperation with African and other partners.
The two overarching themes the Conference will deal with are: Higher Education’s Role in Addressing Major Global Challenges and Societal Commitment and Social Responsibility of Higher Education. Three broad sub-themes will be addressed in parallel sessions: Internationalisation, Regionalisation and Globalisation; Equity, Access and Quality; Learning, Research and Innovation.
