Students have Artwork Commissioned in Zizzi's

The St. Albans' branch of the Restaurant chain Zizzi's has commissioned artwork from Creative Arts Students at the University of Hertfordshire.

The Contemporary Applied Arts 2011 graduates, whose work hangs in the restaurant, are Teresa King, from Flitton; Tanya St Leger, from Borehamwood and Contemporary Fine Arts graduate Joyce Crane, from Bishops Stortford.

Students were chosen by Zizzi’s design coordinator, Sian Quandrill, after visiting the annual degree show where students get to show-case their work after three years of study. Sian was very impressed by the show and provisionally selected seven very talented students, after which the current selection of three students was made.

Tricia Bryan, short course manager and art consultant at the University of Hertfordshire said: “The students selected have worked really hard to produce original and bespoke artwork for the restaurant which I’m sure visitors will agree adds to the fresh feel of the restaurant and showcases the talent of our students. The timing of this opportunity has been perfect for these students as it has given them the chance to develop their professional practice just after finishing their degree. I hope more local businesses will consider using fresh talent and giving other artists the change to showcase their work.”
