Student Image Selected As NASA Picture of the Day
A photograph, taken by a student of the University of Hertfordshire, has been selected as NASA’s astronomy picture of the day.

The picture, taken by Fine Arts student Regina Valkenborgh, shows the recording of the solar track above the telescopes of Bayfordbury Observatory over a six month period. It was recorded with a pinhole camera made from a drink can lined with a piece of photographic paper.
NASA's "Astronomy Picture of the Day" is a high profile website, which highlights one selected image of the Universe every day. In most cases, the chosen photo is one taken by NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope or gigantic ground-based telescopes, however, this week a unique record of the movement of the Sun over Bayfordbury Observatory was selected.
NASA’s selection of the picture is great recognition of the uniqueness of the image, and the vision of the photographer, Fine Arts student Regina Valkenborgh. The photo can be viewed here
